How to Use an Earth Tester:
Preparation:
- Ensure that the area is clear of any obstructions.
- Familiarize yourself with the tester's manual for specific instructions.
Select the Testing Method:
- Most testers can perform multiple tests (e.g., 2-pole or 3-pole testing). Choose the appropriate method based on your requirements.
Connect the Tester:
- For a 3-pole test, place the tester's stakes:
- Current electrode (C): Driven into the ground at a distance (usually 10-20 meters) from the grounding system.
- Potential electrode (P): Placed at a specific distance from the current electrode.
- Earth electrode (E): Connected to the grounding system you are testing.
- For a 2-pole test, connect the tester leads directly to the earth and the grounding system.

Disconnect and Clean Up:
- Carefully remove the stakes and disconnect the leads. Make sure to leave the area as it was before testing.
